Welcome from our founders

St. Thomas More, known as the "Man for All Seasons," was deeply devoted to his faith, family, and profession. In 2000, he was named the greatest English lawyer of the millennium—a remarkable honor given his execution for defying Henry VIII. Renowned for his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering faith, he faced public scorn and death with courage, famously stating, “I do not care very much what men say of me, provided that God approves of me first.” His final words before his unjust execution capture his steadfast commitment to conscience and faith: “I die the King’s faithful servant, but God’s first.”

-Judge David Belz

In 1994, three young lawyers, inspired by the Holy Spirit after a Cursillo retreat, founded the St. Thomas More Society of Orange County under the guidance of Norbertine Father Hugh Barbour. Their mission is to support Catholic lawyers and judges in integrating their faith into their profession. Today, our commitment to evangelization, education, and support remains steadfast as secular pressures grow. St. Thomas More - a man of faith, integrity, and professional excellence - continues to be our guiding example.
